Awake at Dawn Productions, based in Ottawa Canada, is Deniz Berkin's film production and photography company. He has been making films, off and on, for over 20 years. In addition, Deniz Berkin has acted and crewed in numerous short films and television productions. Deniz Berkin sits on the board of directors at IFCO ( Independent Filmmakers Co-Operative of Ottawa ).

The films tend to be visual with minimal or no dialog and often in black and white. They are a mildly experimental in that they try to tell a narrative story but through the characters actions, reactions, dreams, memories etc rather then through spoken word.

Deniz Berkin's films have been shown in film festivals all across North America and in 2004 Someone is Watching Me was awarded the Best Experimental Film award at the REEL Island Film Festival in Charlottetown PEI, Canada.
Earlier in 2008 Awake at Dawn Productions completed a science fiction film called "Every Six Months..." which premiered at the IFCO Winter Gala on February 9 2008 at the National Archives here in Ottawa. As well "Edge of the Scene" recently premiered at the IFCO anniversary party in January of 2008 at the Mercury Lounge as part of the 35mm Challenge. In 2007 "Saturday Morning Blues" screened at three North American film festivals: The Maryland Film Festival in Baltimore, The Slackers Fim Festival in Toronto and Zeitgeist Int’l Film Festival in San Francisco.

"Street Dreamz" an experimental, urban film about found connections, is scheduled to premier at the IFCO Summer Gala on August 14 / 2008 at the Bytowne theater.
